Rainbow Valley
Farms is a family owned operation nestled in the rolling hills of
southwest Iowa. Doug and Judy Wedemeyer started farming in the early
1980's with around 300 acres.
Today they have increased the farm to
nearly 3,000 acres consisting of pasture, row crop, hay production, and
a 1,500 head feed yard operation. In recent years they have begun to
focus on producing dairy quality hay, in addition to the other
operations. They currently have 800 acres of alfalfa that is marketed
throughout the Midwest, as well as used in their own cow calf and feed
yard operations.
Wedemeyer's also do custom feeding for
area farmers and investors. Rainbow Valley Farms has two full time
employees, Dean Chestnut and Kevin Wedemeyer, who help
with the day to day operation of the farm. Doug and Judy have two sons; Bret
and Matt, who are also actively involved in the farm and business
